Stitching angels

A very ‘nice’ thing is happening in our world. Read Karen’s comment here. I have no idea who is involved but this is the exact meaning of being ‘nice’. Karen is right when she comments that it is so uncommon for people nowadays to take time to do something such as this to make someone else’s day a little more bearable. Hugs to you all for giving hugs from the bottom of your hearts. But then we all know – all stitchers are angels.

Laughter

IMG_4212

Much laughter and fun was had at The Quilted Crows Gathering at Campania, near Hobart on Saturday. Anni of Hatched and Patched and Natalie of The Birdhouse were this years guest designers and there were some lovely projects on offer as well as Leonie and Deidres’ great projects as usual.

many Tasmanian bloggers met up and it was great to put faces to blog names.

Tasmania Bloggers were- Jo from Jo in Tas, me –Helen’s Hugs, Alex from Stitchin School Girl, Fiona from My Beautiful Girls, Leanne from Lizzie’s Page, Kathy from Harmony Junky, Christine from Auntie Quaint Quilts, Cathy from Highland Quilter and Sarah from If only I had Chocolate. And if you look back through on many of these blogs you will see their Nice People Nice Things progress as many of the girls are also stitching along with us.

This was one of Anni’s projects – made from wool, we are doing a swap with these projects with many of the bloggers above each making 6 of one of them so we end up with the full set. I haven’t had time to do a swap for years but am looking forward to this. Thanks Sarah for organising it.

This was another of Anni’s projects, a lovely simple bag.

I managed to get most of Natalies’ designs stitched even though I didn’t arrive until lunch time due to Miss M winning a radio competition to meet the Olympians in the morning.

It is so “nice” to get together at these gatherings and enjoy good food, good company and good stitching with other likeminded ladies.  I shall look forward to the next one eagerly.

Welcome

Well this is the start of my newest blog just for people taking part in my Nice People, Nice Things Block of the Week project in 2008. Well actually its not just for those of you doing it, its for anyone to share about nice people and nice things in their lives. We can share our projects as they grow, share the nice thing you did today, the nice thing that happened to you to do, the nice people you met today or just something nice about life….. Just think, if everyone of us made an effort to do one nice thing per week what a ‘nicer’ place our world would be….

I will be posting pictures each week of a block from the quilt and invite you to post pictures of your finished blocks, your progress and other ways of using your design of the week…. Currently I am madly stitching the sample and designing a beautiful box to store your 52 cards in… This is turning out to be a huge project but I think you are going to love it. It will be put together in a Quilt as you go method using a new Nancy Halvorsen range called “love is..” – how appropriate dont you think,  to make it really easy for you to finish once the stitching is done and it can grow with us over the year. As I learn more about wordpress I hope to have a gallery page and I will do my best to make the look of the blog make us all feel nice!

so until further notice, bookmark this blog and wait for updates…. Oh, the kit wont be released until November at quilt market in Melbourne so watch this space or join my e-news mailing list on my website for first notice of its release.

 hugs for today

Helen
